This is an old EV 15" speaker that was given to me. It need reconed. It weighs more than my amp, likely 75 lbs. plus. That big magnet on there is as big as it looks; the guy I got it from said it came from an old Victrola cabinet. Anyone know anything about it? I just thought it was kind of cool, might even be interesting on a historical level- I have seen a lot of speakers over the year but I have no idea what this is, other than a 15 with a serious weight problem. Any ideas?

I put this in the wrong place, please trot me over to electronics. I'll be more careful, I promise...

That's a classic keith...i bet in it's time the bass that thing could produce would knock you over...i bet it would still hold up to some newer ones. Those EV speakers are hard to beat.

It seems pretty unbelievable. I will check into the reconing thing with EV, if all else fails I will have it around for studio use. Won't want to tote it to jam sessions, for sure.

Thanks, George! Now I have to decide if I am going to keep it or turn it into the $$ for my Sierra lap steel that I am trying to get the $$ for. Either way it is a cool item to find!

I have this same speaker in like new condition. The chrome looks shiney like a car bumper. The best way I can describe the sound is its loud as hell.I use to use a pair of the white magnet SRO,s in a blackface twin,I played my tele and my Emmons through it and very seldom did they mike my amp, only outdoors.I like the tone of old ev speakers. If you can get a good recone you will enjoy that speaker.
