It's sometimes just too easy to forget about some songs that themselves are the very essence of true country. This one is the pure stuff!

God Bless you Del Reeves...

Great video! There's other great Del Reeves stuff on Youtube.

In 1979, I toured with Dottsy (ex-RCA) and Del was on the show. He had Big Jim Webb with him on steel and used our rhythm section. Del and Jim were totally cut-ups at all times and places... restaurants, backstage, onstage, men's rooms, etc. The schtick never stopped and I loved it! I doubt there was ever a person more quick and happy to laugh then Del Reeves.

It's also great to see George Owens. I liked him a lot back in the 60's and even have his hit single, "Tonight She Belongs To Me." Whatever happened to George Owens?

Up with new links in appreciation of the very entertaining George Owens and Del Reeves.

A 1960s fashion question: What is the style of tie or tie alternative called that George is wearing in those first two clips? Is it a bow tie that isn't tied but pinned in the center with a clasp? It's a very cool, distinctive look (and I didn't just notice it, but haven't been able to find an answer elsewhere, so far.)
