An ad on the Resonation web site offered a Wechter Scheerhorn 6510F resonator guitar for a very reasonable price, and I had just received a little bonus, so I bought myself a slightly used (but new to me) reso, replacing my OMI Dobro® Hound Dog.
Johnny Bellar was the seller (I almost wrote "Johnny Bellar was the sellar"). The transaction was conducted by phone, and I found him to be open about the history of the guitar, honest about its condition, and fair in negotiations.
I received the well packed instrument last week and I'm in heaven so far. These are well built instruments, and this particular one has a very "crisp" sound through all the strings.
Johnny Bellar claimed that this was the guitar he used to win the 2005 National Resonator Guitar Championship. I asked him to ship it with some of the talent still in the guitar - no luck so far.
He's a Wechter dealer, so if you're looking for one of these, give him a call at 615-397-5654. He also is planning on getting a web site and email "real soon now". _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel

Very Cool Brad. Can you post up some pictures or sound clips?
I like those. They seem to be the new leader in the mid-range dobro market. I have picked around on a few and they sound great.
Congrats! |

When I was working at Guitar Center there was one of those and it was better sounding than any of the other reso's they had. The Atlanta store has at least a dozen vintage reso's and it really beat them all. I want one, eventually. |

Nice! If I decide to take up the d@br@, that's exactly the model I'll be looking at...
I've seen Johnny Bellar play, and he's a wizard at harmonics, among other things. If it spent much time in his hands, your new ax may be chiming the quarter-hour in its case! Congratulations, Brad-- I'd like to hear your further impressions of the W/S at some point.

Thanks, guys. I've been out of town for the past few days, so I haven't had the opportunity to respond.
I'll try to post pictures when I can, but it looks just like the one in my initial post, except with me sitting behind it. _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel
