Hi!

I have been asked a steelguitar "solo number" at a cabaret/concert at my hometown in about a month. I'm really not used to beeing in focus, but playing basic themes and fills backing singers in bands. Do you guys have any good ideas for a song or two I should pick? The backingband are great musicians on guittar/bass/drums/keyboard and flute.
Suggestions? Tabs or even mp3's would be perfect, but classic song ideas are warmly appreciated.
I play 3x2 (knees lowers and raises E's)

Frode

My friend Peter den Hartogh suggested Bred Dina Vida Vingar.
It is a beautiful song from your area. There are many versions on the Net and I believe a steel player (Johannesen?) posted his solo version on this forum a couple of years ago. Just do a search. Smile

Frode,
If you pick a tune you like I could tab it and write charts for the band. I like playing "Nuage" by Django. Sleepwalk always works also.

It may be worth puting in the time to learn "Blue Jade" from Buddy's black album by ear. That is one of the nicest steel tunes ever.

Frode,
Whatever you decide keep it melodic. There may be a few musicians at the concert but most people are there to listen not to play. Melodic stuff keeps most of the audience happy.
