Hi
May I humbly present myself to this august body as a new member.
Old in head, young in spirit, long in arms (years of lugging a twin 10 ZB, pro-3, and numerous other dead weights, session 4's 5's and any other number you can think of).
Long in tooth (just the one but it's a beaut), batty of mind, creak of back and click of knee. Yet it's all been worthwhile as I'm still nuts about steel guitars !!!.

Barry,
It's been a long time!  It's good to "see" you! As one of the most experienced of the U.K.'s players, I wish I could have attracted you to more of my Festivals. I had trouble keeping in touch. It was my fault, I probably should have tried harder.  Shame, because it was the punters' loss. 
Hopefully, we can stay in touch more via email.

Thanks guys for the welcome. It amazes me the generousity of spirit on the this site and with steelies in general. As with most new members I've been logging in for a couple of years and watching what was happening in the world of steel guitar and this site sure opens it all up.
England for many years was starved of information re' the steel and If it wasn't for people like Eric Snowball and in particular Gerry Hogan (Hiyah Gerry nice to hear from you) we wouldn't have had much information at all.
I'm from Liverpool and actually saw my first pedal steel at the cavern during a lunchtime session after a sneak out from school , it was a gibson with the side pedals. I played the cavern myself in 1968.
As far as my playing was concerned (I started in 1966) it was a case of necessity being the mother of invention as I had to guess what any player was doing and how it was being done, as it was for most steel players then in England.
This led to my unusual set up. But as they say "Vive la Difference".
