Last week I get a phone call from a local musician friend of mine. He tells me that he just got a Bakelite Rickenbacker and would like to get together to learn some basics of C6.

He comes over last night carrying a 1930's era very clean black hardshell case. He opens the case, and inside is a MINT condition 1935 Bakelite Rick seven string - all original! We plug it in and it has "the sound". He also got an original Black Rajah bar in the deal. The guitar even came with the original hang tags. I scanned them for you all to see.

Damn!!! I thought I knew where every Bakelite Rick within 100 miles was. My friend is a very good swing/jazz guitarist, he deserves the guitar and will do well with it. I convinced him to come to Joliet in October!

Gerald, did you get any kind of story about how your friend got the guitar? Where was it originally purchased and who did it belong to? It must have had only one previous owner if it's that clean. A piece of history.

No story. He just got the guitar locally from some guy in the metro Detroit area.

The guitar is definitely a little old lady-only played it in church on Sunday type of guitar. CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN.

My favorite line in the warranty is:

Quote:
The body and neck are molded from material of 5000 pounds tensile strength per square inch....

Sounds like the Rick can take a lot of wear, tear and abuse, eh?

There was another hang tag in the case. I didn't scan it in. It read:

Quote:
This warranty will be rendered null and void if the guitar is snatched from your hands at 3AM and "caressed" by Duke Ching's fingerpicks

Gerald; I think the tag you didn't scan had more truth that the others.
