| I found this video of Mr. Green playing behind Lynn Anderson and uploaded it on YouTube.If for some reason Mr. Green would like it removed,....I will. The steel player sitting centre screen certainly isn't Mr Green ~ but if you watch the video right to the very end who do you see ? ? ?

Looks like Steve Allen.
Which means that my best guess, by the tiny bit that I can see of him, is Don Helms. Can't say it sounds like him to me, though, but I haven't heard a whole lot of his pedal steel playing so I don't have a lot to go on. |

I waited , watched and wondered. It could be Sonny Garrish, Curley Chalker, or Lloyd Green. But whoever that is does not appear to me to be playing at all!!!!!!!!!

| We are definitely talking about the guy in the first two seconds and the last two seconds of the clip, as the camera pulls back, in the light blue jacket & tie. And for one half of a second it looks like Mr. Green. There are three moments that sound like him too. |

I just received an e-mail from Lloyd himself,.here it is..
Roger,
You are correct. The "house band" steel player was Jerry Byrd who was faking it while I played the song with Lynn Anderson off camera. It was either the Ralph Emery show or Bobby Lord show in 1967.

Thanks for that old video, my wife sings with us in the band a lot and she'd never heard that song before so we're gonna work it up! I noticed Spider Wilson playing guitar too which was a plus. On a lot of those old shows Jerry Byrd was the band leader I believe and he'd play steel occasionally but most of it was done by Walter Haynes and Jerry'd play rhythm guitar. This was shortly before his move to Hawaii I believe. I do wish they'd shown Lloyd and some closeups of his great right hand technique. Roger, do you know if this was before he'd dropped the C6th neck?........JH in Va.

| Well,...I'm certainly no expert,.....but I'll answer these best I can...Mr. Knight,...Your certainly no DA.......I agree,.there is way too much of the pink dress and not enough Lloyd........I watched this vid several times and zoomed it on the big screen before I was 99 percent sure it was Lloyd playing. ......only after Lloyd was kind enough to e-mail me that I was certain.....and Mr. Hinson,.........You are correct,........that is Walter Haynes on guitar, which I'm sorry I didn't mention in the above posts.........and Mr. Hayes,.Lloyd was still playing a double neck in this vid... To my knowledge,...Lloyd had only 4 Sho-Buds,.....3 were double necks,.....and the last was a single on a double...The first Sho-Bud (65-66)...was the one with the heart inlayed in the center of the guitar,.The second,.which I believe is in this video,..he played from late 66 or early 67 till 73....Somewhere in this timeframe,...he had a Sho-Bud Baldwin model,......to which he was quoted as not having the best tone...Then from 73 till around 88,..he played the single on a double LDG model...............If I'm wrong on any of this information,.....please feel free to correct me.....The vid has had several hits,...Thank you all for watching........Rog |

Thanks, Roger, for posting this. I enjoyed the clip, the woodpecker singer, the steel playing, and the speculation. And no, I do not often confuse Steve Allen with Lloyd Green. |
