Last night was a milestone for the room with Randy as over 100 of us/you were there. We asked, Randy answered, we were elated, Randy was probably a little tired at the end. No matter, folk check this pplace out you will be glad you did.

Yes, indeed, we had a mess of fine folk in the Steel Guitar Chat Room last night. 90 at one time, this did not even take into account those that had to leave early for various reasons. What a night!!!!!!

It was truly an incredible night.
I don't have the ability to see very far ahead. But I really think that a technology that allows a huge number of steel players to receive professional training without leaving their houses is going to become an INCREDIBLE milestone in the advancement of this instrument.
We need to appreciate all the efforts of all those who made this event possible. I've worked in the pc world for many years, and yet I still found myself shaking my head in amazement last night at the possibilities of where this technology can take pedal steel guitar instruction. |

For those of us who couldn´t be there, could someone briefly answer some questions
1. ¿How long was the session?
2. ¿What type of questions?
3. ¿What type of answers?
4. ¿How do you keep order with a hundred steelers?
5. ¿How do you finish an event like that?

it will download a small program to allow you to participate.
Details can be cleared up once you are on with the chat...

Jeremy;
I think it was about 2 hours long.
Folks typed in questions of all kinds; from what strings do you use,to how do you keep your grips coordinated in the heat of jamming, to "heavy" theory concepts and his vertical and linear approaches to improvisation, to what's best for drywall nails or screws?
There is AudioChat (voice over IP) so Randy could talk to answer questions and play his steel guitar for examples of what he said. so explicit verbal answers and musical examples to back it up
The moderators Don Poland and Bobby Bowman prioritized the questions for Randy.
It ends when Randy says- "I've had enough"[This message was edited by Dave Van Allen on 02 November 2005 at 11:01 AM.] |
