If you don't have a DVD recorder or are unhappy with the results that your DVD recorder produces, I have an alternative for you. For a $10 donation to the forum plus you pay return shipping, I will prepare a professional looking DVD from your tape. I run it through a high end Analog to Digital converter doing color correction and brightness/contrast adjustment to get the best picture you can get based on the quality of your original tape. I then use professional grade film editing software to get the material organized with menus and chapters. If you don't understand what this means, suppose you have the Jeff Newman Up from the TOP AB pedal videos. There are natural start/stop points like for each of the ten licks on tape one. With menus and chapters, you can jump directly to the desired lick you want.No need to search and fast forward. I can do VHS or 8mm (maybe you taped a seminar with permission of the instructor). I WILL NOT work with a copy of an original tape. It would be highly unfair to the owner of the copyright if we condoned piracy of intellectual property. I don't do it--niether should you. A DVD copy of the original material for personal use of the owner of the tape ought to meet the standard. One and only one DVD will be made then all stored digital data will be purged.
So this long-winded message is finally finished. If I can help someone out and bOb approves the idea, great. If not, I have a millon old 8mm anaog tapes to convert for my wife's extended family. Its great being able to cut out the parts that involve family members you don't particularly like !

Too bad you don't do the old Beta format. I have some old Beta tapes that need transferred.

I convert video tapes to DVDs as well. I've been amazed at the lack of production skills in alot of the instructional videos.
For the price we pay for'em, instructional DVDs should have easy to navigate menus & better sound quality.

I work at a T.V. station so I have access to professional equipment 24/7. I convert alot of stuff & I even have re-edited DVDs to balance the sound, install menus & make them better.

With all of that said, if anyone wants to make a new instructional video, please email me & I will help. I'm an award winning producer that takes the time to care...not to mention that as a consumer I have been highly disappointed by the quality, or lack-there-of, in instructional materials.

I really don't want any piece of this, and Jan has asked that I close this topic.
