I'm a long time musician (upright and electric bass) who has recently fallen in love with pedal steel. I live in Pacifica just south of San Francisco and I'm looking for a teacher interested in working with a serious student.

Duane Wong at The Music Works in El Cerrito teaches PSG at the store. He's got a S10 Mullen up ther that he uses. Good guy.

Billy-I have had Duane recommended to me by another guy.

You mentioned about the Mullen: does that mean that HE uses the Mullen and you bring your own steel to the lesson, or is it that YOU use the Mullen, so that you don't have to take the time to bring your own guitar and set up (obviously I could call and find out but since you have already posted on this thread...).

I live north of Santa Rosa, and the trip to El Cerrito is ballpark 1.5 hours with a little traffic thrown in, much longer during rush hour driving.

I would like to find a teacher in Sonoma County, but I haven't come across one yet, but as mentioned, you are the second person that has mentioned Duane.

I think you probably need to bring your steel to Duane's when you take a lesson with him. I managed to get a lesson out of Forumite Dave Zirbel who lives up your way. I don't think he teaches on a regular basis however.

I should talk to Dave.

He's pretty busy though, between his day job and the bands in which he plays.

I think I'll shoot him an e-mail.
