I'm having fun diddling with Apple's GarageBand software. Here's a sketch ... an ambient, modal mix of the traditional tune, Shady Grove. Benoit dobro (sounding like an oud), steel body National Reso-Rocket standard guitar (amp'd up) over software bass & percussion.

Andy that's way cool! Nice job. That Benoit sounds awesome. I dig that mid-eastern vibe to it. |

Cool Andy!
We need more wierd **** around here
Are you using the GB loops for the percussion and playing the the bass "beats" on a keyboard thru midi?

Thanks, guys. The pick bass, percussion & shaker are GB loops. The guitars are played live ... both tuned to DADGAD. The steel bodied Reso-Rocket standard guitar has an amp simulation FX. That guitar sustains for about a week and a half in this tuning. [This message was edited by Andy Volk on 15 January 2006 at 07:29 PM.] |

I like it. It's got a real "untamed" sound to it. |

BTW - the Dobro melody is played with a flatpick. I find that sometimes a flatpick leads to different articulation of single note lines than I can get with fingerpicks. |

Great stuff Andy.
It has all the things I love in it....exotic rhythm, oud-ish dobro, and gain for days!!!
More, more!
