Kay-- thanks for "Puamana", it's your best yet IMO.
Also that's some nice teamwork between you and Chuck...hopefully it will encourage more people to try pedal/non-pedal combinations. Rich & interesting possibilities there. |

WOW !!! Kay, the steelocaster sounds great.
I could listen to your Puamana all day. Ah that Hawaiian sound. I Love it. You are the BEST in my book. Thanks for sharing all your wonderful music. I think you are the man to bring the Steel guitar back in 2006. Got to get some local stations to play your music. |

The 'Swan' version with Chuck Lettes is magnificent! the tone is wonderful all the way around.
I have a new CD by Kay, and it's his best yet of what I've heard so far. Wider ranging stylistically and geographically--approaching island bossa nova.
And the sound just gets better and better. |

Kay,
Enjoyed "Swan" and as I was listening, my wife came in said, "That is very beautiful and peaceful." So you have another fan.
Aloha from your aikane,

thanks for the encouragements and comments, much appreciated, they mean a whole lot to me. the CD referred to by charlie is entered for the Hawaii Music Awards competition this year. More on that at a later date.
i would like to acknowledge chuck lettes' beautiful rendition of "the swan" on pedal steel, i was personally blown away by his style of playing and by the contrast between his pedal steel and my lap steel interpretations on the same tune... .....also almost as if camille saint-seans had steel guitar in mind when he wrote "the swan"...
more power to steel guitar,

Hi Kay,
I just returned to work and saw this thread. I sure enjoyed listening to our rendition of "The Swan." The digital world of recording is so amazing to me. Who would have thought that we could work up a song on our home studios, and then send the recorded music from Colorado to Singapore? The world is getting smaller. Let's do some more tunes.

And the world, at least around me, is getting smaller as I shall shortly be leaving Singapore permanently for California. At least I will then be in close time zones to the majority of SGFites!
I like the idea of future collaborations!
