howdy folks,
I used to have the Spade Cooley's version (can't remember the steeler's name, shame on me...), but can't find it. I'm left with a cheesy midi backing track.
Could a good soul send me a mp3 of Steel Guitar Rag?
Any version is welcome (I'm playing it in E on a 6 stringer C6th).

Cheers,

Vic

Joaquin Murphey on Columbia Records and Noel Boggs on Decca. Both versions are wonderful.

My lap steel version is on my web site at www.16tracks.com/songs. I hadn't been playing very long at that time but it's close enough.

I like the Spade Cooley lyric remark...'shame on you...it's on of my favorites of his.

Guitar Rag has been played by just about everyone. I have noticed many versions.

you wont do wrong by the suggestions.

It's also on one of Bobbe Seymour's CD's, and a classic version is on the Buck Owen/Buckaroos Instrumental LP/CD by Tom Brumley.

VICTOR: I suggest you take a look at the post wherein Buddy Emmons' version of Steel Guitar Rag is downloadable for "FREE"!
It's posted near the bottom of "Steelers" page, THANKS to Andy Volk.
Good Luck!

Another of my favorite versions, if I must listen to it again; would have to be the Jerry Byrd version. It's done on the 6-Tuning.

the current issue of Vintage Guitar magazine has an article on the guitarists of Bob Will's Playboys.

a well written article. Steel Guitar Rag, circa 1923, is mentioned.
I almost brought that article to work today, but didnt. wish I had then I could give you the names and suggestions.

I bet it is on the web somewhere.
