My call is N4YCQ. Not active at present time.
The time previously spent with Ham Radio is now used for Steel Guitar and Computers.
Keep thinking I'll put a rig up one of these days. Still have a Heathkit HW-8 and some 2 meter gear.

I am not a "Ham Operator", but I was a high speed radio operator in the Signal Corps in WWII.
Had to send fast with the "Bug" and slow with the hand key, when working with guys in the South Pacific.
Besides the Morse code, (now gone I guess), I had to learn the Japanese "Kata-Kana "code.
When I got out, I wanted to forget it all and concentrate on my Music.....al

I wasa first licensed in 1966 as WN6TIF (then WB6TIF in 1967). I became WF6O in 1985 and, when vanity calls opened up for extras, I became W6QZ in 1996. I have always been active, primarily in traffic nets. I am on 160-10 plus 2 meters, 1.25 meters and 70 cm. You can easily spot my house if you ever drive by!

Joe Mc, I'm ready, just name the Date, Time and Freq. I am good for anything except 160 meters, not enough room for a decent 160 antenna. I think I can make it to Texas, Tri-bander at 52 ft, rice burner and the old Green Machine, with a pair of 3-500s.

Joe: Thanks for posting the listing of steel playing hams. You obviously referred to the list I posted in the Pedal Steel Newsletter in past years. Unfortunately, it is somewhat out of date. Here are some corrections .
My call is now W2BOB. (Extra class/vanity call)
I am very active on 75, 40 and 20 meters on various "Broadcasters Nets" (hams who worked in the radio & tv field.) and the CBS Retirees net. I also particpate in various contests from time to time. I'm active on Echolink on the computer. A great way to QSO when the bands are in bad shape.
I look forward to QSO's with any steel playing hams.
In the past I've had contacts with KA7CVZ and K0IKO on 20 meters. Sadly, Gordy Winchcomb KA7CVZ is a SK.
Tom Lopez's call was K2GMF and is now K7GMF, since he's moved from NY to Arizona (and playing steel in 3 diferent bands).
Ham radio is a great hobby. Some of the best CW fists are musicians and steel players. I got up to 25 wpm CW, but Tom Lopez does 40 to 50 wpm!
