I had the pleasure of seeing Jett Williams,Jim ED Brown,Leona Williams, and Ferlin Husky last night,November 25th. They all preformed at Winna Vegas Casino in Sloan Iowa. The band was called The Cowboy Drifters. The Steeler was Smiley Roberts I beleive.I thought he did a great job. Very smooth,Great fills and rides.

I enjoyed Leona the best. Sang real country music. The band cooked when she was preforming.

Tickets were only $15.00 each. Reminded me of the package shows back in the late 50,s at the KRNT Theater Des Moines IA.

I would go again. Later Darrel

March this Year...we arrived in Nashville in just Tee Shirts and Jeans ...with out baggage lost somewhere in Dallas...it was just about snowing in Nashville.....Smiley GAVE!!! me a leather jacket...took us shopping for clothes.......Offered me his best Dobro for the time we were there......I just used it for one Jam...he said I could have it forthe time we were there...but i didnt want to do that as I know how precious it is to him

Apart from that...well Smiley is......well just OK.................OH Yeh!!!!.......I nearly forgot......Smiley and myself share Birthdays !!!!!!! Feb 10th...how cool is that !!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep! Smiley is a great steel player heard him first with Tommy Overstreet when we opened for them and the Vern Gosden shows back in 1980 at the annual Turkey Trot Festival held then at Yellville, Arkansas.

Leona can cut it and she had two brothers who were great Missouri fiddle players. THey all worked with Haggard years ago when she was married to him. Leona what a beautiful lady was from outside a little place called Vienna, Missouri it is about 25 miles from where my older brother lives. I got to play steel behind her once and her brothers one on fiddle, one on bass. It was great because others mentioned here, she was Country!

Also she was married to the late Dave Kirby and knocked out guitar player. I might add for those might not know it, both Leona and Dave were great songwriters.

May GOD bless!
