I Just uploaded a clip I recorded tonight on my myspace site. I have been been playing on and off for a couple of years now, but I still consider myself a beginner at this instrument. Guess I allways will. It's not your typical country stuff, but I really appreciate all critic, + and -, do's and dont's ... Do yer worst! It's a little scary linking this among all you fine pickers! It's just a little 1 minute snippet called "Florida" here www.myspace.com/pangferdig
Its my 3x2 Sho bud Pro 1, Sho bud Volume pedal into a Roland microcube (!) recorded in cubase with only the internal mic on my powerbook laptop (!!). The acoustic too...

Frode, that is great playing for only a couple of years. I like the fact that you let the guitar breathe and do not do too much blocking (Most players do because all the courses I've seen over emphasize blocking). Just keep practicing, you are going to be a great player. You have a great start already. ![](http://steelguitarforum.com/smile.gif) |

Thanks guys. It really means a lot! I guess the reason for the lack of blocking is beause I am mainly self taught, and have'nt really followed any courses. I think I do a cross between palm and pickblocking. I have only taken a couple of lessons from forumite Bob Hoffnar in NYC, and a couple with Fats Kaplin in Nashville. I play mostly with a couple of bands in the Indie pop/rock scene here in Oslo, and i really have not played much in countrybands yet. I would love to though, and I try to "countrify" these indiebands as good as can…
Thanks for the Sho Bud pedal James... I love it!

Sounds great. Really, the playing (on all the instruments!) is very tasteful and you got great sounds. Sounds just like a steel should to my ears.
Thanks so much for sharing this.

Frode, this is good stuff, you got a great sound from a very simple setup and the playing is perfect for the music. A serious suggestion: you need to remove the word 'mediocre' from your site, that's not what I'm hearing. |

Frode,,, very nice stuff there!!!!,, I will offer just a very slight critique... It sounds slightly over compressed to my ears... were you using a compressor or was one used somewhere in the chain??? bob

Thanks again all of you! I really, really appreciate this...
And Yep I know Bob, it is absolutly overcompressed in the "mix". I usally dont do that, but due to the "lofi-ness" of this recording I thought it was kinda a cool effect. I hardly ever use any effects. Just the volume pedal, Sho bud and my Fender Vibroverb with a little reverb. Sometimes if I wanna be a little more flashy I bring my RE-201 tape echo.

Hi, like your playing!
Very nice recording, you play great.
