Not sure if anyone is familiar with singer/songwriter David Gray, but I caught a tune of his yesterday with a great steel track. Anyone know who it might be. He's from the UK, so the steeler could be as well. |

Jay,
I'm a fan of David's. Somehow I hadn't noticed steel on his recordings, but I just checked CD credits, and there it was.
On David's CD A New Day at Midnight, B.J. Cole played pedal steel on "Caroline," and Tim Bradshaw played lap steel on "Last Boat to America." David's latest, Life In Slow Motion, again credits Tim Bradshaw with lap steel (but doesn't specify which tracks).
I just listened to "Caroline." It's an upbeat, electronic-sounding song with a fast ride that's clearly pedal steel (probably E9). Does that sound like what you heard? |

Yeah, I think that was it. Wasn't it BJ Cole
on some of Sting's stuff a couple years back? |

Yes, BJ Cole played with Sting. BJ's own website has some recollections about it here.
I've read that he's on David Gilmour's latest CD as well. |
