I recently received 3 CDs from the gifted New England steel guitarist Kevin Macneil Brown, and once I started listening, I couldn't stop. This is some of the truest and most authentic "country" music I have ever heard -- "country" because what he describes, or rather inhabits and beckons you to inhabit, are the rural landscapes in his native Vermont. In some ways, he is steel guitar and ambient music's answer to Charles Ives. Like the rivers, mountains, sea shores, and states of mind he describes, this music is profound, moving, and deeply spiritual.
I highly recommend this CD for anyone who would be interested in this wonderful listening experience.
