Hello folks,

I've been lurking here since March, and already posted some since I got my membership last week (especially in Humor). Here's an attempt at a more official introduction.

I'm a young guitarist/singer who started messing around with a Morrell lap steel in 2004. Earlier this year the "steel bug" bit in earnest. I'm now up to four lap steels and a Dekley student model PSG (S10, 3+2). So far I'm a hack player, but I'm taking lessons on the Dekley with Rick McGrath here in Albuquerque. Soon I'll be a better-trained hack player.

This intro is delayed because it's taken some time to work up the nerve to call myself a steel player. I know the company I'm in here, so let's just say I'm here to learn. Thanks to b0b and all of you for contributing to this forum; it's an amazing resource.

Welcome Eric - it does grow on you. You'll learn a bunch of really good stuff and probably buy way too many toys, so enjoy!

Hi Eric, Welcome from Oklahoma! You can do your self good by joining your closest Steel Club. Tons of fellowship, you know, like "Hi , I'm Bob, and I'm a steelaholic." and much support for entry level players from those more experienced.

Herb, Herb, Herb. Just because someone is different than you......
Anyway welcome Eric. I used to play at the Caravan in Albuquerque back in the '70's. You'll find a lot of great people here on the forum, even that Jim Cohen guy. Get his CD's you'll enjoy and learn from them. See ya Sunday Jimbeaux.

Thanks, fellas.

Skip, as you can see, I'm well on my way. James, that's a great suggestion - I'll try to find a group of fellow steelaholics. Ben, the Caravan is still around; I may even stop in one of these days. Ron, thanks for the tip - by that standard, I qualify. (Or does it own me? The jury's out on that one.)

Jim, thanks for saying hi. I enjoy the music on your site.
