Not sure if this is the right place for this question but here goes -- many years ago I used to play an instrumental in a band called "Stealing Corn." (Or perhaps it was "Steeling Corn"). I learned it from the guitar player and we played the whole little romp in harmony. I never actually heard the original and I can't seem to find out who recorded this. (There is a song on a Mooney/James Burton album which has a song with "corn" in the title, but that isn't the song I'm looking for) Is anyone familiar with this tune and who did it? Thanks so much. Boo

If memory serves me right, I think Merle Haggard's Strangers did that instrumental on The Fightin' Side of Me album, recorded live in Philadelphia, PA.

Here's a picture of the cover...

Hope that helps,

B

Boo---the title that I had years ago but haven't seen in years is Introducing My Friends, the Strangers, 1970. Does not seem to be in print.

--btw--the Burton/Mooney cut is "Corn Pickin'"

Boo, I think if you go to the Merle Haggard web-site you can find that album on CD format there.

The Feral Swing Katz do a great version on their second album (won the Australian Country Music Instrumental award for that track). That album isn't available from their web site but may be elsewhere.
