A friend of mine asked me to post these pics from the Convention. Lots of good closeup shots of great players, and, lots of good candids from the exhibitors area too.

Al...do me a favor and mention in the steel forums you read, that my fotos of the convention are up (in lo rez versions) at my web space: http://home.neo.rr.com/gasimon  I can't do this as I am not a member of any...Thanks, Gerry

Al, is there any way to put the names of these great guys next to their pictures for people like me who don't know?? That would be a wonderful thing! Thanks, Anita

Thanks for the comments. The site is not mine to administer, it belongs to a buddy of mine. If his contact email address is on the page then you can get in touch that way and suggest that he add some captions. I'm in the same boat there, wondering who some of those folks are. And, it's true, that Gerry, the photographer, tends not to miss an opportunity to snap some pics of a good lookin' and talented gal.

Hey Al, Was there a shot of Beatle Bob in there?, I know he is from St Louis but I didn't know he was a steel fan. Last time I saw him was in Austin at SXSW.

Here is a link to a story about Beatle Bob http://www.riverfronttimes.com/issues/2000-03-22/feature.html

THE BEST photos I've ever seen from a steel show!!! I especially love the ones of Johnny Cox!

So steel players have faces, huh?? MANY faces. That would be MANY, MANY faces. My daddy used to tell us that if we held facial expressions long enough, our faces would freeze!

Terrific photos!!!

Many thanks Al for posting these excellent pictures, and Gerry for taking them. So now we can see what was going on on the other side of the ocean.

Got to get over there someday......

I mentioned this in another picture thread - it'd be nice for newer folks to plug in captions so we could connect names with faces. I recognize Buddy Emmons, joe Wright (what's with the clown getup?) and Sarah jory, but that's all.

Pretty nice photos, But I think that the "foto by gas" spoils them. I guess that the photographer thought that someone might download some for their own use. They are very low resolution photos, some as small as 12 k. Too small to make prints from, only suitable for viewing on the computer or a web page. Is the object to try and sell prints to the people shown? Just my 2 cents.
