I just got this on CD. Wow!

Besides the obvious liner note info, who can tell me specifics about this?

Was this recorded in New York?
Why is his name spelled "Buddie"?
Did he actually play that thing on the front cover (I'm guessing no way!)

Sol, I think this is the correct link to the thread where Buddy talks about the gear. There is another one somewhere where he describes the experience but I can't find it at the moment. Maybe a search in Steel Players or the archives may turn it up.

As I recall from reading a story somewhere, the album was recorded in New York with a session leader and jazz musicians that weren't familiar with his planned list and he was forced to just do standards that everyone knew. Please correct me if I'm wrong somebody.

It is said that the airlines lost Buddy's Standell amp on this trip and he was forced to play through another Standell with a 12 inch speaker as opposed to his which was a 15. Apparently he was not happy with the tone. Still it's a great album.
