Mark Chesnutt was on the Grand Old Opry Saturday night with Slim Yamaguchi. There were some really nice camera shots of Slim and his Excel guitar. I noticed on the top of the guitar at the left end on the player side there looked like a joystick with a black knob. Does anyone know what that is and what its function is?

I just saw the show a few minutes ago. Slim is playing his new Excel U-12. He used to tour with a D-10. He told me he didn't play enough C6 on the road and his back was getting tired of hauling around that heavy guitar.

The stick-shift you saw is the locking device, that holds the guitar in the B6 tuning.

Mark has a new album coming out in September. It should be great. On the GOO he sang the old Marshall Tucker song, "Heard It In A Love Song". Very nice.

i opened for mark years ago and slim, as well as playing great steel sounds, also played piano lines through some processor, i imagine, that were very convincing!

Hey where is Slim from anyhow? I've heard from some people that he used to live around my neck of the woods, but I never met him and don't have any more info...
