Being a newbie at lap steel, I use search engines a lot, trying to to solve the mystery of the lap steel. One of the most useful sites I have found for unlocking the patterns of different tunings is called GAFF. Once you figure out their site, you can punch in any tuning you want and then either designate the scale or any chord you want and it will map out a color coded guitar neck. I am then able to understand that tuning. Maybe most of you already are familiar with the site, but I happened onto it by accident so I thought it might be a useful contribution to the Forum. www.power-chord.com/gaff/mapper/

Guitar Map is an excellent program that I use daily. It is a downloadable program that lets you set up your copedant any way you want.
