.. hmm,.,, I think he is direspecting a classic and very desirable musical instrument there...Why a great old Fender steel to put words and music on??.. Just use a keyboard mounted music stand...
Kinda like hanging your used kleenex on the headstock of a 54 strat..

| Bucky Baxter, who played steel w/ Dylan, told me Bob was taking steel lessons from him. Don't know where that went...maybe Bob feels he can't really play steel till he gets some bad shoes and one of those pocket things for pencils and pens. |

I'm just happy to see a steel guitar on the same stage as Dylan in any context. Does B. Dylan still have a steel guitarist in his band? I haven't seen him perform in many years but I have a box set of LP records of his that I still play. The guy was/is one of the most amazing talents we've ever had in music and in the classic sense, a great poet. As for his harmonica playing, it's great IMHO. A lot of old rockers such as Neil Young and others play the simple style of 1st position harmonica which I like much better that blues harp any day of the week. Bob was such a unique stylist that you either hated him or loved him, there's hardly any middle road with him. I hope he's still studying the steel guitar, maybe someday he'll incorporate some of his own playing on his shows. I think the guy's a genius (And I love George Jones too..........) JH in Va.

| I think hiding a keyboard behind a steel is a little strange, for sure.... but like they said, it's Dylan. I don't really think he intends any disrespect to the instrument. |

Yes, Donnie Herron from BR549 is in Dylans band playing non-pedal and pedal steel, fiddle, electric mandolin, and banjo.
Next week Dylan starts his Baseball park tour with Junior Brown and Jimmy Vaughan as the opening acts.
So between Dylans 'music stand' Stringmaster, Donnie's GFI and Gibson consolette, Junior Browns Guit-Steel, and sometimes Jimmy Vaughan shows up with a lap steel or stringmaster also, that stage is going to be full of steels.
