I thought it unique that this morning, Don Imus made the comment, after B & R played the first song, "that's James Pennebaker on steel". I suppose 'ol Don is a steel fan also; way to go James.

I caught that, too, Charles.

I wake up to Imus everymorn; and he has pointed out other steelers in the past.

He can say some things and be ornery at times, but I love the cat. His heart is in the right place. He DOES love country, and actually knows the difference [PHONIES vs DA RILL THANG].

His favs are Delbert Mcklinton; Randy Travis; Dwight Oakham; Emmylou/Mark Knopfler; and Willie & The Boys - you name it.

He and Deirdre[sp] are doing just great things with their real working cowboy ranch out there in New Mexico. The ranch for kids with cancer. It's sad sometimes to watch some of those kids that he has on the air. We all know they are in a hellacious fight. And they stand so naive and proud. God bless them. Courage to the max. We all should count our blessings.

I've wound up on Imus' show with several different artists over what must be at least 10 or 15 years now. Before that, he used to come to every Delbert McClinton gig in NYC going back to the late 70's which is when I first met him. He always makes it a point to say hello. I don't know if he's particularly a fan of the steel guitar, but he is one heck of a nice guy.

Thanks James, for that bit of insight.

Indeed, you are a lucky steeler.

Oh, I think old Don is very hip to the steel.
Good for you, James.

You play very well.

Don has commented on several occassions that he is a big steel guitar fan... usually followed by a brief rant about "... but so many of them are so damn out of tune!".
When he likes 'em he likes 'em, though!
Cool!
