In case you folks did not hear about it I am letting the cat out of the bag...

Russ got out of town without Laney and played our show and you know what he did??...Yep he sang! He told me Sat night he was going to do his world premiere but I didn't believe him...OH YEAH HE DID...Russ is not only a fantastic steel player and bass and guitar but now he has added his name to vocalist...WOW....Such tallent! I didn't know Russ was a closet vocalist! He finally came out and declared it. He really must feel liberated at this point. |

That's right, Rich, after all these years I've finally realized that it's what up front that counts. Now maybe I'll sell more CDs at these shows than Laney does. Only one thing bothers me a little; I remember while I was singing, Scotty was sitting on the front row doing more LAUGHING than anything else. Maybe I should think on this a little.

Not to worry, Russ. Scotty often laughs when he's delighted. I'm sure you've seen him do that many times when you, Laney, Big E, Lloyd and others take the stage in St. Louis.
I have to say that's pretty brazen for a rookie to be throwing down a challenge like that to Laney.

Y'all check out some of them ol' "Barefoot Jerry" albums. Russ did a lot more singin' than you think, way back when. If any of you are lucky enough to own a copy of Russ' album of "A Journey Into Yesterday",you'll hear him sing a lot. Classic selections such as,"Come A Little Bit Closer","Stagger Lee","Twistin' The Night Away",Tossin' & Turnin' ",& one of my personal favs,"Love Potion # 9". If you'd like to hear one,I'm sure that he has several (thousand) of these left that he'd be willing to part with, for a nominal sum.

One of my all time favorites songs is "Steelin" with Russ and Jimmie Crawford both singing on it. I downloaded it, but even if I had paid for it I might still like it.

Russ...You got busted buddy. I think what he was referring to is that his vocal may have been the first LIVE (?) shot. I am sure he was just worrying that Laney may really put the "STOPS" to his vocals. Of course I don't really think she has to worry about the competition!
Again Russ thanks for being a part of CISGA. You did a fantastic job!

Well since the 'secrets' are coming to light about Russ's singing, I must let everyone know another secret. Laney is one of the best steel guitarist I've heard! Yep...this is true...she has been teaching Russ how to play the steel for years...in fact, I've heard that is how they met...Laney was Russ's steel guitar teacher!
She is so polite and considerate that she has been content all these years to just be one of the best country singers and did not want to 'steel' the show with her incredible steel guitar playing!! Rumour has it that she has taught steel lessons to Randy Beavers and even, yes, even the great Mr. Emmons! You can go to the bank with this rumor...HA |

I find I must dismiss yet another false (but nice) rumor about my abilities and achievements. All of this has, however, prompted me to decide that if Russ can sing...I can play! I mean, how hard can it be? And, I have it on pretty good authority that I do at least "get it" in principle.
Now, where can I get pink picks and bar?
