Doug,

Thanks for your input alluding to the steel guitar excludability, emanating from virtually every student in your music room. Your matter-of-fact outspokenness, and detailed observations, helps to enlighten those who wish to be better informed.

Thanks Bill, It’s good to see you posting on the steel forum again.

When you say the "wavering of enticement", I assume you are referring to the hesitancy of some newcomers to take the plunge, buy a steel guitar, and commit to learning it.

Or do you mean that there is something about the steel guitar that causes the pause in prospective students? Or maybe it’s something in the person himself that causes the pause?

I think he means that the
motivating factors for taking up the steel
come and go, so the potential new comer
isn't always, prodded to take it up consistently.

Sometimes it's sorta hip,
other times it's just there as filler.
No cultural cahce so to speak.

I hope it stays hip and never ends up on the "Scrapheap of the uncool"... eek, not that again!

Doug,

I mean that it may be possible to change the apparent lack of interest in the steel guitar, existing within the minds of many young musicians. Most steel guitarists possess a high degree of civility, and will assist others who wish to advance musically. My experiences dictate nothing to the contrary. While some may have difficulty recognizing the pure distinction of the steel guitar, many others have been richly rewarded by the instrument, as they undertake to understand its true values.

retcop88,

Thanks for stepping up to the plate, and addressing some of the key issues which promote advances of the steel guitar.
