This video is from an Austin City Limits show back in the '80's.George Jones had the first half hour and Hank Thompson had the second half.Hank didn't have a band with him so the The JonesBoys backed him up and it was really apparent that Western Swing was not their thing as they didn't handle Hank's songs all that well.....probably would have been a real disaster if Johnny Gimble hadn't been there to lend a hand.George must have been feeling no pain that day because when he introduced Hank he said" If Roy Acuff is the king of country music then Hank Thompson must be the queen"....and the look on Hank's face was definitely a Kodak moment!! |

I was playing in a band with Steve's brother (Mike) and sister (Mary) around the time of this ACL show. I can say for sure that's not Steve Fishell. |
