Hi all, I was fortunate enough to be given 2 tickets to see John Anderson, who will be playing at the Champlain Valley Exposition in Vermont on Sat. May 13.
Last time I saw John Anderson live was in the summer of 1982. He had the wonderful, 19 year old Buck Reid playing with him. I was fortunate enough to hook up with John the night before the show and hang with him the entire night. He couldn't stop talking about how great a steel player Buck was.
Alot of water has run over the dam since then and Buck has found greener pastures with the likes of Lyle Lovett and now his own solo CD.
My question is, does anyone know if John Anderson is touring with a full band with a pedal steel player these days? If so, anyone know who that steel player might be?

Hi John,I think Brett is correct - Glenn has been with John Anderson for several years now and does a great job. I really appreciate the kind words John, you make it sound like i've actually accomplished something.

Buck, if you stumbled back across this post, around 1984 I played in a band that opened for John Anderson at a place called the Oil Palace in Tyler Texas.
You made a great impression on me that night as I had only been playing steel a couple of years and I thought you sounded great with John.
Fast forward to 2003? and I'm in Terrell Tx opening for John Anderson again and I looked to the side of the stage and there you were again.
Even after all those years,I still remembered your name and what you looked like. You are still a great steel guitarist and I hope things are going well for you.

Thanks fellas. Buck, most people (like me)just dream of being able to play like you and experience what you have in your life as a professional steel player. Keep up the good work. Let me know when you are up this way. |

I saw John Anderson last Sat. night with Glenn Rieuff on steel in Essex, Vermont. The band sounded great and real tight. Glenn sounded real good on his 1974 push-pull Emmons, played thru a Pro-Fex and Goodrich box. The band played to a crowd which wouldn't let a little cool rain deter them. Glenn gave me a copy of the new John Anderson Anthology release, which contains just about every song John Anderson has done, all rerecorded and performed by his current band, including Glenn on steel. Had a great talk with Glenn after the show.
I have some jpg photos I could upload for you folks if someone could instruct me on how to do it. It appears you just can't cut and past them into the message. Any advice in this regard is appreciated.

John, I've got a 1974 Emmons push-pull, but it's a student model. Didn't Glenn play an Emmons Legrande with John Anderson one time? What color is his push-pull? Brett, Emmons S-10, Morrell lapsteel, GFI Ultra D-10 |

Brett, Glenn's Emmons is a D-10 black matt colored (4 knees), different from my gloss black Emmons. Send me your email address to johnbrabant@yahoo.com and I will email you a pic from the concert. I don't know how to post a pic on this webpage.
