First off,I'm not sure if this is the right place for,if not Bob put it where you want.I have a long time friend and band member that owns a music store. He sells a ton of low price guitars, mostly New York Pros,[no they are not Gibsons or Martins]The fullsize acoustics go for less than a 100 bucks, and they are great sounding and great players. When I was a kid growing up in the 40's and 50's and wanted a quality guitar it was either a high dollar Gibson or Martin,All the cheap ones were crap.It amazes me that they such a good instrument can be made in China, shipped to New York, then shipped again all over the country to dealers, and they can sell them for 99 bucks and still make a good mark up.I bought one of the tele styles, raised the nut, made a lap steel out of it and it played and sounded great.Just curious.

I've got a friend that plays a New York Pro (we call it 'The Hooker'). His other guitar is a Gibson classical, but he likes the way the Pro plays just fine, and it records great through it's piezo pickup.
It's quite a value for the price.

And no, I don't see how you can make a buck on them, Bama C.

I just read an article yesterday about China's ability to produce cheap goods. Wages there run about $1.00 an hour, usually with sweatshop conditions, and little or no benefits. They also have a lot of the latest and greatest computerized machinery so they don't have to do a lot of hand-making of parts anymore. They probably make more guitars in a week than Martin and Gibson combined make in a year. Oh yeah, and their executives and CEO's don't make millions of dollars, either!
