Sounds like it could have been Tommy White. He worked with the Whites at one time.

It is Tommy White with the Whites, from the album "Doing It By The Books" (1988).

I recognized some of Tommy's "signature" licks. About 2 years ago I did a show with Ray Pillow and he sent his new CD along with charts for the show. His new CD was done using the Opry staff band for the sessions. I was trying (and I use the word trying) to do Tommy's licks.
