Can you recognize a steel player in this group of world class athletes?
Click here to see the picture
I will make a ten dollar donation to the forum if anyone can name twelve or more of these team members.

I see Johnny Bush - probably because Steve mentioned him.
One guy looks like Little Jimmie Dickens, but the time-line isn't right for his age. Is that Porter with the cowboy hat?
One of those guys looks suspiciouly like Lisa Minelli. |

Dicky Overby was there and after the game
we all went to a bar to get a beer and Johnny Bush and Dicky sang their new songs for the KBUC folks.
Johnny Bush's booking agent is #53.
Do you know his name?
Gordon.

Hey Gordon, What do I win if I know Crash Stewards name? Or am I exempt from the contest. Boy, old Buddy White sure looks like alot of people. Is that hair sticking out next to you attached to B. Baily Browns' head? Looks kinda like his. |

A free trip to Crash STEWART's gravesite!
I'm playing with Bush this weekend and I will get as many names as he can remember... which might not be a whole heck of a lot!

I just talked to Bush. Jimmy Day was not there. Neither was Charlie Pride. One person there was Lee Harmon, but Johnny has to look at the photo to identify the various "athletes."
Bush: "Have you ever known Jimmy Day to do anything athletic in his life?"

Not many drummers got to play because they could not get their shoes tied in time.
Could you imagine doing this kind of promotion today?
Not many steel players there that night.
The all had gigs.

Herb,,,I would have to agree with Bush,,,,I knew Jimmy around and maybe a few years before that time and he would be the first to say that he seldom even knew where he was,,,and was glad he didn't most of the time. I remember in the mid '80s we were talking and he said "there's about 20 years of my life that I don't have much memory of,,,and it's probably just as well I don't". |

I made the donation to the forum.
Geroge Chambers was talking to Johnny Bush about who is in the picture but I have not heard back from them.
By doing this topic I wanted to make a point about people promoting the Country Music Pond where us Steel players like to swim.
If you can please promote a show in your area. Bands like Bobby Flores and Billy Mata are bringing a whole new generation to the Country dancehalls in Texas. Promote one show a year out of your pocket. Steel players should take the lead in this area.
Click on the link of the picture at the top of this topic and scroll down and look how many people viewed this picture. If even a small percentage of these folks promoted one show that would be a bunch!
