Last Sunday, Bud Carter (Carter Steel Guitars) was honored with the first "Pioneer Award" by Bill Cook and the Alabama Steel Guitar Association (ASGA). The Pioneer Award is awarded to indivduals for their outstanding contribution to the development of the steel guitar.
Over the years, Bud Carter has been involved in designing some of the finest steel guitars made.
Bud Carter is also one great steel player!! When you see Bud at the TSGA next week, be sure to congratulate him...he is long over due for the International Hall of Fame also.
By the way, a special thanks to John Fabian at Carter Steel Guitars for helping me with the pic of Bud Carter for the plaque! |

Congratulations Bud. I remember the first time I met you and Reece at the old MSA place on Tyler. Must have been 30 years ago or so. I was impressed by all your many talents even then.....al

| Bud Carter is very deserving of this award. He has done so much for the steel guitar. He not only is a builder but a great player as well. You add a man with a humble spirit and you find a bundle of talent in Bud Carter. I will congratulate him at the Texas show for this award. For those who have never met Bud Carter in person, you have missed a blessing.Thanks to Bill Simmons for bringing this award to our attention. |
