Cowboy Copas and Hawkshaw Hawkins were also on that plane, a very tragic day indeed! More music history was lost that day then when Buddy, Richie and the Big Boppers plane went down.

March 5th . really. I dont doubt you. however, on a PBS special I watched last night a person held the newspaper. the banner was about their deaths. the paper was dated March 3, 1963.

still, what a loss of talented musicians.

And it was only a year or so later that we lost Jim Reeves. I still remember the front page article in the Buffalo Evening News about him on that day. I play Patsy's tunes regularly in the woodshed.
All appropriate for remembering here, in my book....

our household always enjoyed listening to Jim Reeves's music. it was our 'joke' to tell people he was my dad's brother (and there really was a Jim Reeves in our family).

I too play a few of Patsy's numbers. well crafted songs.
no one could sing like her.

Our band still gets lots of requests for Patsy songs and I still do Lonesome 77203 by Hawkshaw along with several Jim Reeves songs, best dance music on the planet.

Patsy was one of a kind!! I played steel on most of her recordings and did her spots on the Opry and telivision. We knew she just a super singer and way ahead of her time. She was a great friend I miss her even today when they play one of her records it brings a lot of memories. Rest In Peace Patsy-----
