Some of the Forumites I've had the privilege to communicate with during this past four or five years have amassed extensive record, tape or CD collections of their favorite artist and/or musical instruments and/or studio hardware.
Since musically disinterested spouses, ex-spouses, former enemies, one's kids or grandkids, or schools are not always the best recipient of these earthly treasures.... what plans have YOU made for distributing these valuables following your passing?
Isn't there supposed to be a joy of giving and might'n one not want to think about gifting their chosen one...........before they pass? |

Hey Ray, that's a good question and I never thought about it until you asked it.
I have a son that is into music and he's an adult now well almost he's 19 and I'm sure he would take very good care of my collection.
My wife could care less about my music so she would not be a good candidate to leave them with.
I've amassed quite a collection over my life time. I started buying records when I was 10 yrs old and I'm 51 now so I've been buying records for 41 yrs now.
I have them all cataloged to my hard drive now and I also have a friend that has given me a gift of a lot of songs. I've got over 60 gigs of mp3's now.
They range all the way from Cowboy Copas to Billy Joel. I started out buying 45's and my Mother had a lot of 78's and they are my favorite ones. I have an original Gene Autry Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer and I even have some that are worth several hundred bucks. But thats a moot point because I'll never sell them.

| Yep, it's a problem. My wife has absolutely NO interest in my gear or music collection, except to say that at my demise it will be the first thing put out to the street. Maybe a codicil to the yet non-existant will? |

Knowing what a fine young man Tom Baker is, I would second Pete's suggestion.
I'd like to think that someone like Tom or Tom might be in possession of Danny Shields' collection. It's probably the best I've ever seen and I spent hours on end over at his house listening to them "and him" in the "good old days".
I miss the real old time players that played.
