Just wanted to take a minute and talk about my best friend, for those of you who never heard of him well let me tell you first he has played with Jerry Lee Lewis,Barbra Mandrell,Don Ho,Connie Smith,Forester Sisters,Bill Anderson,Marty Robbins, till his death and many many more.I finally got Wayne to play his first steel guitar show which was at my show. Then he played with me at the ntsga show last year when Tommy White,Paul Franklin,Doug Jernigan played what a night that was, also on our spot was Duwane Marrs. When I was playing the steel guitar convention in ST. Louis my son asked Paul Franklin who he thought was the fastest and cleanest player was, without any hesitation he said you probaly never heared of this guy but his name is Wayne Hobbs. That made me feel great. He just gets overlooked alot these days and on the forum he is a member but is so so humble he will never talk about himself. To me he is one of the most underated steel player out there today and is still a very young man. He was working with Jerry Lee and Barbra Mandrell in his teens and very early twentys. Just wanted to say what a great guy and just a monster player if you ever get a chance to listen to his CD, he has on it william tell overture, once upon a time in the west, theme from hawaii 50,theme from ice capades, I'll fly away, and many many more, He is great and just wanted to say a few words about a great guy and great player and great friend. This guy could work with anybody, you have my word on that thanks, Chubby Howard

Chubby is so right. Wayne is a monster player and a super guy. I am very glad to have Wayne and his wonderful wife Terry as personal friends.

Wayne and Terry were with us where I played this past Sunday night and helped us pack up and load equipment on the bus. True friends for sure!

Chubby,

I must agree with you about Wayne. Wayne is the most under-rated player I know of. He's also a very dear friend, who I haven't seen in years. Please tell Wayne I said "Hello," I hope he's doing well.I hope you're doing well, also.

Chubby, please tell Wayne I said hello as well. He may not remember me, but our paths used to cross from time to time years ago. The last time I saw him was in 1990 when I was doing some dates that summer with Ronnie Milsap. Wayne was playing with the Forrester Sisters at the time. They went on before us on a show and I hated to try to follow Wayne. He is such a great player and just an all-around nice guy. I am happy to hear that he is doing well!

Is Wayne still playing at a restaurant in West Chester, OH. I got to hear him play at Chubby's show in 2004 and keep fogetting to get out and catch him locally. I'll bet it's less than 5 miles from my home. Any info on that?
