Noticed a lot of new members signing up lately. I'd love for all of you to send a pic for my "MugShots" webpage. You can get there by clicking on the link in my signature. Be sure to list your name and location in the email so I know where to place it in the image maps.

Don,
I have noticed many new members too. Does that mean that there are new players just getting started, or have you newbies just been hanging around the fringes for years and have just now decided to join in?

Joe, I have been a member since Jan. I am not sure about the others, but I am a total newbie to the Steel Guitar Community.

Now then, i am one of the new members since august, but i would not like to call myself a player. sooner newbie or rookie to the pedal steel. practise nearly since 2 years now, but it's a long way. and no founded knowledge in music theory too. i love country-music and the sound of the pedal steel guitar. that brought me to learn the psg, only as hobby, but make a dream becomes true to me. you call guys like me a bedroom player, i mean. i thought often over about to stop it, then i take a look here and say to myself: "Hey, here are the players, and all of them began once." the forum helps me to beginn, but mostly i did not really understand you talk about. now i can understand you better and the things you talk about. so i decided at this time to become a member. on the one hand as thanks for the assistance and new drive, the forum give to me and on the other hand i can "put in a word". this is the simply reason. and some day i play the steel guitar...

I don't have a pic to send you yet. Still trying to get my nerve up to do that. Does it have to be a picture playing our steel?
Hi OLaf, welcome to the Forum. Glad you decided to join us. Not long ago, in another posting here, I stated that I wasn't a player yet...and someone "respectfully", lol, corrected me on my status as a player. Here is what he said:

In response to Joe's question, for myself, I started playing steel 30 years ago when there was no internet. I discovered the forum a couple of years ago and finally felt compelled to join this last spring.
By the way, Don I sent you a "mugshot" yesterday, I'm the one behind the steel guitar, not the good lookin' guy with the bass. (At least my wife says he's a good lookin guy!)

I have just updated the "MugShots" web page this morning. If you would like to submit a pic, please use the link on my mugshot page. It makes it much easier to get good quality pics that I can then re-size and it doesnt suck up b0b's bandwidth here. Thanks to all that have submitted pics, I sure couldn't do it without ya'll.

I'd be interested to know if posting a link to a server (photo) "sucks up bandwidth on Bob's server". If it does, we should all respect Bob's resources. Care to weigh in Bob?
