Yesterday there was an excellent article in the Wilson County Newspaper about Tommy and his Cherry Ridge Studio. The article also had several photo's of Tommy and the studio.

This article was not hidden in the back pages of the paper. We're talking about the whole front page of the Living Section.

Congratulations Tommy, it was a great article.

Tommy is one of my favorite players. He's probably a steel guitar god in Texas. However, it seem like the rest of the country (pickers' anyway) are a little slow in catchin' on to his work. I hope that he puts out his own disc one of these years.

Check out his ride on Bill Kirchen's "Let The Fire Burn Out" (?) It's on my top ten list fer' sure.

I just came from Tommy's studio, www.cherryridgestudio.com, and was listening to (and thoroughly enjoying) his steel playing on one of the albums we're working on there. His tone is absolutely incredible, clean and sweet, and his playing and ideas are there to match.

If I've had anything to do with the production of an album, he's played on it and probably engineered it as well (one of the best in the world). He knows how to get the right tones on everything (priceless) and nothing gets by him. Plus he plays great guitar and Dobro!

And on top of all that, Tommy is also a fellow Cigar Aficiando. We regularly create blue clouds of smoke there on his studio porch on breaks.

He's been talking about doing an album of his own sometime soon and I think we ought to stay on him about it until he gets it done!

Can't say enough good things about the quality of his work there at Cherry Ridge and his musicianship. I'm so glad to see my bud get some front page recognition. Well deserved. Keep it up Thomasio!

Bobby

Thanks so much Joe! Hey, come by sometime! We live to close not to visit. I make a mean cup of coffee...

Thanks to you too Robbie...maybe one of these centuries I'll get that discography together for you..! And that Flores guy is all over that Kirchen tune too, ain't he?

And Bob, what can I say? I couldn't do what I do without you brother! I know I've told you this, but I'll tell everybody. Everytime you come in for overdubs on something I am working on, the project immediately takes a quantum leap to the next level. Such tasteful and classy playing (and singing!)

I am humbled and honored.....

Tommy

It doesn't get any better than Tommy on steel and Bobby on fiddle.

I ran into Tommy at the Broken Spoke a couple years ago as a pretty much stone cold beginner, introduced myself and asked him a few questions, and I can attest that he's as generous and knowledgable as they come. Thanks, Tommy.
