Last time this space walking engineer bailed out of the shuttle to fix the craft, now he's bailing out of Friendswood TX. in his Cessna 180 and everything he can pack in it to escape the horrible hurricane,"Rita".
I know that many of you, as I, thought about this great guy and steel player being in harms way, again!
And he was calling me because he was worried about me knowing I was in east TX. for the Billy Braddy memorial. What does this say about the soul of this nice person? (I haven't met him face to face yet). How many of you players got to shake his hand in St.Louis this past convention?
Next time we need to make him play!
Anyway, he's escaping the storm!
Now how about the rest of you great TX players? Jody Sanders? Al Posey? Get out of there!

Bobbe

Thanks for your concern Bobbe. I think we will be OK here in Magnolia. Sorry I didn't make it to Billy's Memorial Service. My health ain't as good as it used to be. take care, Jody.

I was watching the emergency landing at LAX yesterday, reflecting that learning how to use rudder pedals could contribute to a guy like Steve's ability to play pedal steel.

I imagine he'll make the move in stride; he's made some pretty long journeys before.
I do feel a little sorry for the folks from New Orleans who were bussed to Houston and have to do it again....

If there's one thing I learned from that beautiful LAX landing of the Airbus 320 it's that the darn paint stripes on the runway are flammable. I noticed that the fireball bloomed each time the tires touched the white. Whoodathunkit?
Hat's off to the front seat guys. Great job.
Steve, here's hoping you and yours stay dry and safe. I hear they're battin' down the hatches at JSC.;

Steve was kind enough to email me and tell me a story about while they were in orbit an extra day, he had his iPod and played a Derailers song "Whatever Made You Change Your Mind", to NASA. Very cool. I told Brian Hofeldt, who wrote the song, and he was almost to tears with flattery. I'm looking forward to meeting him at some point.
