I had a chance to hear and meet Danny in my home town of Grove City, MN last night. He was playing steel in Janie Fricke's band. He really sounded great on his restored, black, S-12 p/p, universal Emmons. If you remember, that's the guitar that his dad owned that had the basket weave pattern and Danny had it redone in black (what else). I have enjoyed Janie Fricke's music for many years and Danny certainly contributed to the good sound last night.
My only complaint was that the keyboardist took precedence over the other instruments. I sure would have liked to have heard Danny some more.
It was great visiting with Danny during the break and afterwards. Janie and the band came to Grove City for the show and then back on the bus for the return to Fort Worth.
A long trip just to visit the "Land of Sky Blue Waters"!

Thanks for the nice compliments Erv. Just got back this AM. Nice town/people up there, excellent weather. It was great meeting you, and thanks again.

Danny,
Maybe I can get a booking for you in January and you can have the experience of "walking on water". |

Danny and I sat up side by side a couple of weeks ago, and I really enjoyed it! I had worked a couple of shows with him before, but this time we were closer on the bandstand which gave us a chance to play some parts. I hope I wasn't driving him batty with my Telecaster. It was an out door gig, and we experienced some tuning differences, but only climate related. As you know, "Mother Nature can do strange things to guitar strings." He's a great person with a professional attitude, and this thread speaks for his ability. I hope we can do it again sometime..... Huh Danny? |

You bet. That was a great time.... and you're right, the tuning seemed to be flying all over the place...
Sorry you had to travel such a long way to get there, hehehehe.......

Yeah!...And with the cost of fuel!....Every picker should experience getting to play (and get paid for it too) right on their FRONT PORCH!! |
