Did anyone happen to catch "Nashville on the Road" on RFD-TV last night? Did you see the steel player behind Jim Ed Brown? It was Johnny. He said he was about 18 years old at the time they did those..he was playing a gray ShoBud guitar and using a ShoBud amp..tone to the bone. Actually it was on last week too, but I didn't see anyone post about it. They've started putting that show on Monday nights around 8:00 PM. Earl Erb was playing guitar, and Buck Evans was on bass. Ed Chambliss was playing drums (Porter's drummer now). It was cool. They got a close-up of him playing and also did one of Earl, where they were backing the Cates Sisters. Pretty cool to sit there and watch him on TV when he was right there in the living room. Anyone else see it?

I always dug Jim Ed (and his sisters); he was "Mr Cool". Little did I know that many years later I would know via the internet some of the musicians (Johnny) who contributed to that image. Joan, thanks for your post.

Tommy, we better!
The first 26 shows were done in 1975. First 13 at Six Flags Over Ga. and 13 at Daytona Beach. I left Jim Ed in Feb. of 76 and got off the road after 8 great years. On March 16th of 76 Marcy Cates and I were married...and no she wasn't blind when she married me!

Thanks, Joan. I saw it today and wondered who the steeler was. He really sounded good. Both of you are great players.

I remember seeing a couple of those shows when they originally aired. I had just started steel and I always remember seeing that kid a few years younger than me playing sooooo good. Thanks for the post Joan. I remember tuning in for several weeks after seeing him a couple of times and never saw him again..... I was really let down because I thought his stuff was really great.

Good to see our very own Earl Erb and his beautiful wife Marcy plus Johnny. That's a nice piece of history for all the Forum to check out. Earl's wife Marcy is also in the Gretchen Wilson video "When I think about cheating." She appears, with her sister on the stage with Gretchen, around the 2nd verse of the song. It was really neat to see the show. Thanks for the heads-up Joan.

Joan, thanks for the post. I guess this is a new addition to the RFD lineup. I will watch for it.
