Did anyone else see the interview with BB King in the Wall Street Journal this week. He said he always loved the steel guitar and tried to get that sound into his blues.

No didnt hear that, but B.B. was the big "80" on Sept. 16...one of the nicest, musicians you will ever find........It wouldn't surprise me he likes the sound as he was one of the first to "bend"strings on the 6 string...

I got to meet B.B. in Las Vegas in 1975. I was working the Hilton with Donna Fargo and B.B. was working the lounge at the same hotel. We were there for 2 weeks so some of us in Donna's band went down to see his show one night and we met him backstage. B.B. invited us up to his suite and I must say that to this day was one of the nicest people I have ever met in the music business. Anyhow, the next night he came and watched our show and he commented to me that he had always liked and appreciated steel guitar, which meant so much coming from him.

In his autobiography he said the same thing about steel guitar influencing his blues style. Imagine if someone had put a steel guitar in his hands way back when.

I don't usually watch the Jay Leno show, but was flipping thru channels last night, and Jay was just introducing B.B. King! What luck.....he performed his famous The Thrill is Gone...man, nobody plays or sings like this guy. Then he signed Jay's new motorcycle....I'd like to know what that thing is worth! Jay asked him his age, and B.B. said he was the big 80. Wow, he hasn't lost a beat.
