The Jay Hooker Band plays around the Texas area; does anyone know who the steel player for that band is? I heard a recent CD; sounded like a great player.

Tommy,

Do you mean Jake Hooker? Great band for sure, Dickie Overbey is working a lot with Jake, also can be heard on most of his records.

Kind Regards, Walter

A great singer, songwriter, and bass player. Mr. Overby is on most of his stuff, and he used to have Bobby Flores in his band before Bobby went on to bigger and better things with his solo and recording career.

Here's Jake's website http://www.jakehookermusic.com/

And Bobby's http://www.bobbyflores.com/

Jake Hooker is great. He has a history of using the best steel players around. Gary Carpenter, Jim Loessberg, Rick Price, Dicky Overby, that's a pretty impressive list of players. The music is awesome. I just talked to Rick Price and he will be with him at the Comal County Fair in New Braunfels, TX September 23. I won't miss it.

Man, I can't wait to move down to that part of the country.... It's just absolutely a desert up here in Lubbock for traditional country music. There's a couple bluegrass groups local, and maybe one guy that's "sortof" country. The rest is all Rock and Texas Country.

Blech.

Is Jake Hooker related to Bill Hooker that plays bass for Alan Munde? Billy

Good try, Billy.

That's Bill HONKER.

Heh. Same instrument, and believe it or not, Jake went to school a long time ago at South Plains College, but I think that was before Alan started teaching there.
