Any ideas where I might be able to pick up some grey foam to fit the inside of a case? My local ACE hardware store doesn't have this. Home Depot?

Thanks
Bill

Try a fabric store in your area, or a luggage repair shop.

JoAnne's Fabrics ... as Andy and Brad mentioned above.

Foam rubber is pretty cheap there ... best cut it with an "Electrc Carving Knife" ...

You'll be cursin' up a storm if you try a serrated knife, scissors or a utility knife.

I seriously doubt that any fabric store is going to have the gray case lining foam like you want, but I guess anything is possible. One place to get it is TCH. Go to Google and do a search for TCH or Umbra. TCH is the initials for Trans Canadian Hardware. They have distribution centers in Buffalo, NY and Dallas, Texas. Maybe a west coast place too. I think the case foam will be Ester, not Ether. The Ether is just real, real soft. Not enought support. The one that has the most density and is the more expensive of the two is the one that you want. I know you can shop on line with TCH also.

Bill,

The fabric stores should have it.

But in case they don't try a packaging company in your area.

Enjoyed sharing and getting to know you better at the airport.

Aloha,
Don

George ... the Joann's fabrics near me carries polyurethane foam. 2" up to 5" thick.

They call it "high density" ... but compared to Ethafoam (polyethylene)... its actually pretty low density.

But it holds my personal Dustpan (15 lbs) pretty securely in an SKB case that I got when Sierra folded.

I use a flat bottom piece (glued to bottom of case) ... then a sculpted middle layer (glued to the bottom piece) ... then a top layer (glued to the top of case).

One day ... I'll get Rob Anderson to build me a custom case ... lacquered tweed ... but till then ... this was cheap, easy to do ... and works well.
