I'm the new guy, I'm from Ramsey Il.also the hometown of Tex Williams.I've been looking at the forum for a few months thought I'd might as well join up, I've been playing steel or been playing at it about 13 years. Started playing rhythm guitar and lead in my early teens and played bass in bands in my later teens (late 70's).then my father in law got me hooked on steel when i was about 29 and things aint been the same since.

Yeah, it does seem strange, but getting mixed up with the steel guitar does tend to change one's life, don't it?

Welcome to the Steel Guita Forum, Luke. You mentioned Tex Williams, brought back memories.

I played at the Governors Ball with the "Country Counts" in Phoenix,Az about 1972 and Tex was the Guest Artist. I backed him up with my PP D10 Emmons on "Smoke,Smoke that Cigarette".

And then played his "Battle Hymn of the Republic" while he did his famous Recitation. It was so quiet, you could hear a pin drop.....al

Hi Luke, nice to meet you I'm from Illinois too. I'm from Oblong it's about 45 miles east and a little south of you. I live in Nashville now and I play guitar. I have a good friend from Ramsey and I have played the Tex Williams festival at least twice up there.

My buddys name is Jerry Finley and we played in a country group back in the late 70's. I left Il. in 1982 and have been all around since then but have been here in Nashville since 1985.

Are you playing with anyone up there now? Jerry's son Kevin still lives in Shelbyville and plays drums and sings you might know him. Well anyway welcome and it's nice to meet you.

Bob
