My Dad and a buddy of his are heading to Branson in Oct.
'Any recommendations for good shows to see (steel player related or "must see" in general)?
They are also wondering about a good place to stay while there.
Thanks!

Sure....without any question the Paul Harris show is THE show. Anytime you have Terry Bethel and Dean Holman on the same stage at the same time, you've solved the steel issue. In addition to that, the rest of the band are top notch...awesome piano man..does a great job vocally on "I Bowed On My Knees And Cried Holy"...but, the icing on the cake is Paul's comedy..unsurpassed. Mix in Clay Cooper (?) on vocals and you've just seen the very best in town.

Tell them to make sure and catch the Baldknobbers!! One of the best shows in town with Roger Blevins on steel!! Great music and comedy too!!

There's also a great non-steel related show called The Dixie Stampede!! It's a dinner show and worth every penny...great show & food!!!

Just type either into google and check 'em out!!

I would suggest making reservations for the shows now as Oct. is a big month in Branson. Plenty of nice hotels & pretty cheap too!

Yep, the Terry Bethel and Dean Holman Show with Paul Haris and Clay Cooper is a good un. Also the Roger Blevins show at the Baldknobbers and the Bobby Hempker Show at the Country Tonight Music Theater is has some great talent too.
A great place to stay is the Whispering Hills Motel on Shepherd of the Hills Pky . They have a free to guests breakfast and some kind of ice cream and cobler each evening from 9:00 to ?? also free to paying guests. My wife and i stayed there last week after the Branson Jam and went to the afore-mentioned shows. Yall have fan, now.

October 17-22, the Country Gospel Music Association will hold its International Convention in the Settle Inn located in Branson. One may attend the evening concerts free of charge. Main CGMA events begin at 10:00AM and 7:00PM, with other sessions of interest in the afternoon. Last year two good bands with excellent steel players were featured on the program.
