August 13 is our band's 18th Annual Last Performance Ever.

I joined our band, already in progress, when I moved to Ann Arbor in 1978. Been playing with them since. Back in 1988, we our guitarist was leaving the area and we thought the band might not ever play again. We had a "Last Performance Ever" reunion party. Well, through the years of continuing to play (as we've gone through a few other guitarists), I guess we've had a Last Performance Ever party ever since. In the country, outdoors, music, friends, dogs, kids, food, beer. Very pleasant. Usually in June, this year, August 13.

I will be at the Rockwood Music Hall on Friday the 12th, with a great singer/songwriter named Justin Tracy. Not country at all, but rather a British folk type a la John Martyn, with traces of Tom Waits and Indian classical singing. Very talented guy. I will be playing steel and dobro for him, beginning at 9PM, admission is free, 196 Allen Street betw. Stanton and E. Houston. Hope to see you there!

Hey Vance - You're in my old stomping grounds. I grew up on a littel farm that backs up to Bella Vista. You ever run into a bluegrass buddy of mine up there by the name Ron Pennginton?
