Maybe we'll have to settle for "Coon Skin"? I haven't seen any Possums around lately? Lots of Coons tho! Keep up the Great pickin Joe, and say hi to Helen Miller from Barb & me! Next time she's on MWC! If you ever pass through AL stop in and Jam a little!

I only caught the last 25 minutes of todays show and missed seeing Joe. I would like to know who was playing the BMI steel behind Randy Newman (band ws called Ozark Jubilee, I think). Randy played Danny Boy on the violin and they had the steel too far up in the mix (I know, I know... It can never be too loud), and he was overpowering the violin at times. It was a good thing this time. This man was playing some awesome stuff. They should have just turned the violin off. Anyone know who he is?
It's always nice to see Becky Schlegel (sp?) on the show. Her voice makes my hair stand up. She sure is purrtee too.

I caught the first part and the last part, and you're right, that was some awesome steel on Danny Boy. I don't know who he was but he also had an awesome beard. At the start of the show Joe was doing his laundry, I guess, he had a wash board and was cooking on it, even took a solo. What a picker!

| yep,i don't remember name at all,but it was some fine music,and that old boy playing steel,wow that beard really got my attention,i told my wife if i had one of those,and right away she said i'd set it on fire!!! she still notices Joe ain't got no haircut yet!!!!hahahahha,got to know she is a invalid for 14yrs. I can't get by with nothing on her!!!Joe was playing some great steel tooooo. Hey Joe i need some lessons from you man.Great licks my friend. farris |

Joe,
I love to watch the show too and I am a fan of your steel playing. You always look so relaxed and I know that it must be a nightmare playing for so many different singers in one show.
I also noticed it seems to me that you have a unique way of holding your bar. If my eyes do not deceive me, it seems that you hold the bar out more with your fingers rather than more of a "cupped" grip that I'm accustomed to.
I would be intersted to know how that came about. Did it naturally feel more comfortable when you were learning steel, or did someone turn you on to that particular way of holding it? Very interesting.

Farris...anytime you get up this way in Polar Bear country......stop on by!
Bryan...I don't know how that happened. Just bad technique, maybe...... It feels looser, like I have better control (sometimes), but I haven't really thought about it much.
