Yes, John D. Joe is the staff steel guitarist for Mid West Country and a FINE one at that.
Just imagine what he would sound like with a high quality audio mix for the broadcast.
But I'm not complaining, I watch it whenever I can and tip my hat to RFD TV.

I love to hear Joe play, but I can't stand the guitar player and I usually have to switch it off after about 5 or 10 minutes. Joe is a great player and that Zum does sound mighty good. But, according to another thread here, he needs to cut his hair, wear sequined suits and a cowboy hat. Just friendly ribbing at you , Joe.

OH MY GOSH!!Joe knows that was my wife who said that he need a hair cut!!she says that every wk. but when i don't shave for a few days, i catch it to. I laugh with JOE when he makes a mistake,he does like i always have,everyone knows it by the face expression. Joe we love you man. great job.

I don't care for the eco-plex or whatever the effects gadget is either but I must say he's a very talented musician.
But there again, he usually needs to be brought down in volume to be in balance with Joe. I just get the feeling there's one or two mics hanging from the ceiling for the broadcast which would be a "pot luck" mix. I would think a handfull of instrument mics and seperate mixer for the broadcast would do wonders.
But getting back to the subject. Joe does do a great job, and with all the different singers they back I marvel at the way he hits all those intros. He must have a good memory as I'm sure they don't have any too much rehearsal time.

I don't get a schedule, so; it's always by chance, but; I always enjoy Joe’s playing whenever I’m lucky enough to catch it. I guess I’m going to have to subscribe one of these days, when the cattle~drives ease up a little. Good station and good shows!  Keep it up Joe!

No,i'm not doing a commercial,but RFD is a family channel that is clean,and good for us all.we also have the cooking channel with lots of good clean programs.
we need more programs like these this day and time!!!
also that Texas Reporter has got me wanting to travel,he shows so much in Texas.
I'm not much on Horses,but lots of people are,and those Rodeos WOW,like to watch them too. farris |

I watch Midwest country every week. Ole Joe has one of the best soundin Zum's I've heard, and is a very good steel player.
Ole Leroy is a great guitar player, just wish he was playin a Tele with way less echo.

Hey Farris....long-time-no-see. Thought maybe one of those hurricanes got you!
Wow, thanks for all the kind words and encouragement from everyone. That Midwest gig is a tough one in regard to slamming a show together in about two hours. Sometimes, like this past Saturday we had 8 guest singers each doing 4 songs many I'd never even heard before. Very limited time to get that many songs together.
When we do the "artist" shows we usually have material in advance to learn....but still only maybe an hour to rehearse with the "artist". Pretty hard to put a polish on anything. It's totally by the seat of our pants and I know it sounds like it, too. The band never rehearses outside of show days.
I just try to do the best I can under the circumstances. Maybe that's part of MWC's charm, I don't know.
When I started doing this gig 4 years ago, it was only shown locally on cable-access channels. I never imagined these performances being broadcast across the country. I'm glad you guys appreciate it and accept it for what it is.

Richard....if you have any extra sequined suits I'll take a couple off your hands....Nudies would be nice!!!

| in defense of "ecoman"[sic] leroy glasier, i was listening to some grand ol' opry recordings from 1970 and the guitar player sounded just like that. no more or less "eco." that's just old school country playing pure and simple. very sweet. i think he's great. i just wish the drummer could tighten things up a bit. he must be from slosh angeles. NO we survived last year JOE,but we are in that season again!!we are under tornato warning right now!!I love to watch Joe,you bless my heart,and to see you pat that left foot,Man if i pat my foot like that,i don't think i'd even find the pedals!!Great job Joe. and RFD I like to watch OLD TRACTORS.

For those of you who want to catch Joe on RFD TV and don't have a time can to to www.rfdtv.com/schedule.asp or just type in RFDTV.com and once that page comes up scroll down until you get to the schedule. Once you get to the schedule you can chose your local time.
I enjoy watching Joe but sometimes the echo guitar gets to me.
